Dear Neighbors,
Wildfires and other emergencies are ongoing concerns in Southern California, and being proactive is key to protecting our homes and community. While agencies like the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) partner with Talega and other communities to mitigate fire risks, there’s a lot you can do to prepare yourself, your family, friends and neighborhood.
• JOIN SOUTH COUNTY FIRE WATCH
South County Fire Watch is looking for volunteers from Talega to help monitor wildfire conditions during red flag warning conditions. As a volunteer, you’ll receive classroom and field training to learn how to spot and report fire hazards in high-risk areas. Your efforts can make a real difference in early fire detection and prevention. Interested? Sign up HERE and check the “Firewatch” box.
• STAY INFORMED WITH ALERT OC
Wildfire conditions can change rapidly. By signing up for AlertOC, you’ll receive real-time emergency notifications, evacuation orders, and important safety updates directly to your phone or email. Stay informed and be ready to act when needed.
• SIGN UP FOR CERT TRAINING
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program provides residents with essential emergency skills, including wildfire preparedness, first aid, and disaster response. These training sessions empower you to take action during emergencies, ensuring both personal and community safety. CERT training is free and there is no obligation to join CERT.
