Battery Energy Storage Facility
A recent Site Plan Permit application was submitted to the City of San Clemente, proposing the construction of a 200-megawatt Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), also referred to as a "battery farm," on a 14.9-acre vacant lot located behind the Pinnacle Apartments at the end of Avenida Pico. Recent incidents of BESS fires, including one at the PG&E Moss Landing facility in California and a more recent fire at the TerraGen facility in Valley Center, have raised resident concerns, particularly as a significant portion of Talega is designated as a Cal Fire 'red' Fire Hazard Severity Zone. 2073 San Clemente Time Capsule Project
Join the 2073 San Clemente Time Capsule Project! As part of San Clemente's "Golden Anniversary" celebration, the San Clemente Historical Society is assembling a time capsule set to be unveiled in 50 years. Contributions of various forms are encouraged, such as stories, photographs, keepsakes, and more. We welcome you to participate and, specifically, represent the Talega Community by sharing your cherished memories!
The submission deadline is December 6, 2023, which coincides with Ole Hanson Day. Residents are also invited to attend a preview of the contents that will fill the 2073 Time Capsule on Monday, December 11th, between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Talega Swim & Athletic Club.

San Clemente C.E.R.T is offering a CPR (Adult, Child, Infant) & AED Class with a blended First Aid option provided by Health & Safety Institute (HSI) (2-Yr. Certification)
Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at the Talega Swim & Athletic Club
Cost: $35 CPR/AED
$20 First Aid
